Holiday nails

First thing first, with this post I consider my season of Christmas themed posts open. Second, and I feel I should be honest with you... I'm a Christm-aholic.
When December roles around and all the stores get green red and gold and Michael Buble's holiday album plays almost everywhere, it truly is "the most wonderful time of the year"
I have this "tradition", Christmas for me means golden nail polish. Since as long as I can remember, I've always painted my nails some shade of gold. Glittery, metallic, you name it. But this year I wanted to do something different, and I came across this black nail stickers with blue glitter on the tip and decided... gold tips!
Now I've been loving the whole pastel light nails that's crashing on this summer, so I knew I wanted a light creamy color as a base... that base took five coats. As soon as I did the first coat and it look like I had almost nothing on, it came to me, like a flash back from high school years when white nails were all the rage, that you need a bazillion coats when the shade is really pale. So here comes my first tip, if you are going to paint your nails a light shade, use a fast drying polish.
Once I had my nails a solid creamy color, I did a coat of this Revlon Gold Goddess polish (which is clear with true gold shimmer) from the top half the nails, another coat on the top third and finally a nice heavy coat on the tip. I ended up coating the whole thing with Sally Hansen's Double Duty top coat and... Voilá!

The great thing about this nail polish combo is it will last until new years. Because I put so much on the tip (which is always the first thing to chip) my nails lasted ages on, which means you can have pretty much perfect nails for a whole week.
The only down side, and I feel obliged to confess this, is that it will take you a solid 15 minutes to get the nail polish off, because as we all now, glitter is a pain in the ass.

Hope you liked this combination!
