An eye on Fashion Week

There are a couple of weeks a year when my free time in front of the computer is dedicated to one thing, and one thing only: fashion week.
I love seeing what the new designers have in mind and what the trends are going to be, but this year I decided to change my point of view and shift from the clothes to the face. here are my picks of the makeup trend for this Fall Winter 2014.
Winged liner and nude lips

L-R: Peter Som -- Christian Siriano -- Hervé Leger --  Reem Acra

Winged liner is an established trend that just keeps getting better. This year a lot of designers made it the star of their looks and paired it with a simple nude lip (in most cases, with a little gloss). In most of this designers collections, black was a big protagonist in the clothes, so is no wonder they matched it up with the eyes.

"No make-up" make-up

Narciso Rodriguez -- Hugo Boss -- Erdem

This is an old trick: the less face, the more people focus on the clothes. But this year there was a twist on the "fresh" bare face, no contouring. In years past, the "bare" faces where a little bronzed up and a little blushed up, and clean eyes and nude lips. But this year, the skin is as fresh as the rest of the face, only a little shading (probably for better effect on the pictures) and almost no blush.

Hot lips

Carolina Herrera --  Issa -- Zac Posen

I know what your thinking, last F/W season was also one for hot lips, yes but "wintery" hot lips, what caught my eye about this season is summer colors for winter, and I'm loving it! Don't get me wrong, I'm one to love a vampy lip, but this is such a fresh new take on winter lips, so don't put your summer lippys away just yet, they might come in handy.

the Golden eye

Tracy Reese -- Badgley Mishka -- Altuzarra

I needed a closer take for this trend to be appreciated. Metallic eyes were a big trend last season, but the focus was mainly in bronze-type tones, now the tables have turned and is the time for gold.
The great thing about this trend is that is so easy to replicate, a little swipe of gold all across the lid, a little bit of eye liner and mascara and, Puff! you're good to go!
This was paired with nude glossy lips to keep the look as light as possible.

Flushed face

The hype for contouring is at a stop and it's time to blush. This trend keeps in tone with the "no make-up" make up. The idea? "I've been out in the cold and I got a little flushed". Clean glowy skin and a more all-over-the-cheek blush. Key: natural colors! the idea behind this trend is natural flush, so pick a natural blush shade and keep it light-handed.

Hope you liked my picks!
What's your favourite trend from this FW season?

  4. OMG where should I start? I love the winged liner and the lips are so cool! The first lip even has that ombre kind of colour where it's more intense in the middle of the lips and fades out a bit. Gold glitter on your eye lids? Got me!!!
