Rimmel Stay Matte Mousse - Review

I feel like I'm in a long long quest to find the perfect (and if possible affordable) foundation, one that is capable of covering my imperfections and evening my skin and keeping me matte for as long as possible.
I spotted this Rimmel Stay Matte mousse foundation, as you do, when I went into the drugstore just to browse and knew I had to give it a go.

PROS

  • Medium coverage
  • Lightweight and airy feeling
  • Need only a little bit to cover your whole face
  • Mattes without drying the skin
  • Very affordable

CONS

  • Shade range
  • A bit too pink undertone
  • Doesn't matte for more than 3hs.

What I really like about this foundation is that most foundations for oily skins cover waaaay to much and sort of paste over the skin, but this one doesn't.
There not much to say other than that, I really like this foundation (I've been wearing it non-stop for the last month or so) but as I'm entering the palest of the pale as the temperature goes down, I find myself in a jam: this is the second lightest shade, which is a bit too dark right now, but the lightest shade is waaaay to light, and because it's a mousse texture you can't quite mix the two. This means I'll have to put it away until I have some colour in my skin again.
If you don't have too oily skin or a problem with the shades as I do, then I would recommend you give this a go. And as it's in the cheapest side of even drugstore foundations, is not a big gamble to try it and see what you think.

Final score: 7/10

Have you tried this foundation? what do you think?

XO!

  5. Thank you for sharing this fantastic review! I agree that finding the 'perfect foundation' is an endless mission, personally I use Clinique but I will keep Rimmel in mind when I've moved on from my current one! :)

  11. Great review babe!!! But i have to agree, it does give off a whitish-shade after a while (and that makes the makeup look quite bad!) :( I guess, it's a great product, if you're planning to use it for a few hours. :)

  12. I'm always on the quest for the perfect foundation as well! I reallyyyy like Mineral HD Forever liquid foundation (you can find it at Sephora) but I just ran out and I can't justify speeding $45 on one bottle. I'll have to give this one a try. My only problem with matte foundation is that sometimes I feel like it makes my pores look bigger. Did you experience this at all? Thanks for the review!

    1. I've been using the La Roche Posay Effaclare Matt as moisturizer under my foundation and it makes my pores less visible, maybe that will help you too!
      Thanks for the comment!
